Maternity Cover Subject to job Evaluation

The Council is seeking an enthusiastic, committed and innovative professional to join our busy Environmental Protection Team for the purposes of maternity cover. The team has responsibility for the delivery of services in the areas of air quality management, pollution control, domestic and commercial noise control, contaminated land and water quality. You will carry out inspections and implement enforcement action in respect of prescribed processes, smoke and noise control and will carry out sampling and environmental monitoring. You will provide technical support and assistance to Environmental Health Officers/Environmental Protection Officers and other staff within the Environmental Protection Section and Health and Housing Services. You must possess a BTEC in Environmental Health or equivalent, or HNC/HND in science or equivalent, and have a minimum of one years' experience of working in a local authority performing pollution control or environmental protection duties. The post holder will demonstrate experience of working with IT windows based software and spreadsheets, including the graphical and tabular presentation of data-sets. A sound knowledge and understanding of air quality management, regulated installations, statutory nuisance and domestic and commercial smoke control will be essential. This is a temporary position for the purposes of maternity cover. This would be initially a six month contract with the possibility of further extension.

Salary:

£19,370 to £23,405 per annum
