Summary of Role

The role involves leading projects to implement changes to business application systems in the areas of technical maintenance, enhancements, development and performance tuning. This is to support new initiatives for the Next Directory business,
 
Responsibilities

Programming ability in more than one mainframe programming language or technical area, with adherence to relevant standards.
Good understanding of design and programming techniques.
Plan and perform detailed unit, system and user acceptance testing.
A thorough and careful approach to implementations, keeping all parties informed.
Analysis of existing systems to satisfy new requirements and resolve queries.
Able to work effectively under pressure to strict deadlines and target dates.
Possess a high level of attention to detail.
A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Lead and support other team members on projects.
Taking responsibility for system integrity.
Liaising with Project Managers and Team Leaders in planning developments.
The successful candidate will be expected to work outside of normal hours where required, and to provide callout support after a suitable period.
Whilst assistance and training will be given to the right candidate, it is expected that you have the aptitude and self-motivation to develop your own skills and knowledge within the team environment.
 
 


Criteria

Significant experience in programming COBOL /JCL/CICS/TSO
Previou experience working in a Mainframe environment.
Knowledge of Systems/ Business analysis.
Able to work effectively under pressure to strict deadlines and target dates.
A great team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills is a pre-requisite
 
Desirable Criteria:
ADABAS Natural, OPCA, Endevor, Smartfile, Smarttest, SmartScope
Previous working experience in the Retail sector would be a benefit.
Experience of a development and support environment coordinating project or resolution progress with users.
